“Supporting Electronic Medical Record Documentation through Automatic Summarization of Spoken Clinical Dialogues Using Local Large Language Models”
Clinical conversations contain substantial amounts of personal patient information, raising concerns about information disclosure when using cloud-based LLMs. This study explored summarizing conversations with local LLMs running within the medical facility to generate draft SOAP-format medical records. We compared the results with cloud-based LLMs, assessed the drafts for fidelity, format, and conciseness, and analyzed differences across models and prompts.
mocomoco's mocoVoice was used for speech recognition of clinical conversations.
We thank Dr. Niro Tayama, Director of Tayama-Sarai ENT and Voice Clinic, for his cooperation with this research.
