mocomoco Recognized as the 5th NAIST-Originated Startup

mocomoco Inc. (CEO: Koki Tanaka, hereinafter mocomoco) has been officially certified by the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (hereinafter NAIST) as the 5th NAIST-originated startup, receiving the official title. This program, which began in FY2024, is designed to provide smooth and appropriate support to companies founded utilizing NAIST's research outcomes and human resources.

About mocomoco's Business

Leveraging natural language processing, speech recognition, and hardware optimization technologies refined through research at NAIST, mocomoco provides 『mocoVoice』, a transcription service tailored to users' practical business situations. mocoVoice is an AI speech recognition system that balances speed and accuracy, making it immediately effective in real-world operations such as business meetings and customer support. In fact, users who have implemented the service highly evaluate its recognition accuracy, as well as the convenience of its multilingual support and domain adaptation. Through research technologies cultivated by cross-laboratory collaborations at NAIST, mocomoco is advancing initiatives to implement academic insights into society.

I am absolutely delighted to receive the NAIST startup certification. mocomoco is a startup founded primarily by NAIST members, and the insights cultivated through our research are deeply ingrained in the core of our product development.

Myself, Tanaka (belonging to the Natural Language Processing Laboratory), CRO and CMO Onishi (belonging to the Robot Interaction Intelligence Laboratory (Collaborative Laboratory)), and CTO Kim (belonging to the Computing Architecture Laboratory) are all currently enrolled in doctoral programs at NAIST.

For mocomoco's first released product, "mocoVoice", we developed a system that more accurately recognizes (led by Onishi), more deeply understands (led by Tanaka), and faster delivers (led by Kim) "voice"—the foundation of user communication. In this regard, we developed it precisely by fusing our respective areas of expertise cultivated at NAIST.

Moving forward, mocomoco will continue to arm itself with cutting-edge AI technology while consistently providing gentle technology that aids users, just like "mocoVoice".

Future Outlook

mocomoco will proceed with further functional expansions of mocoVoice and mocoCloud, aiming to meet the growing needs in the domestic and international speech recognition markets. Recently, we plan to present the insights gained from the research and development of mocoVoice at NLP2025, which will be held next month. Moving forward, by synergizing development and research, mocomoco will accelerate the cycle of connecting cutting-edge research to value creation.

About the NAIST-Originated Startup Program

The NAIST-originated startup program, initiated in FY2024, certifies applicant companies with the objective of providing smooth and appropriate support to companies founded utilizing the university's research outcomes or human resources.

For certified startup companies, the university provides various forms of support within a scope that does not hinder its management, operations, education, and research. This includes the use of facilities secured for incubation, introductions to or mediation for joint research with other companies, PR through university-hosted events, PR magazines, or the website, and permission to use the certified startup logo.
